Nothing but Rain in Stockton!

05/02/2009

Shauna was excited to go back to the recently reopened Stockton Speedway. The track had been shut down for several years and the last time Shauna had run there she finished 2nd place. Unfortunately Mother Nature was not cooperative, after a few hours of watching the rain cover the track and pit area, the promoter cancelled the event due to current and forecasted weather conditions. The race is tentatively rescheduled for June 20th. Next race will be back in Roseville Speedway on May 30th. For race details visit www.allamericanspeedway.com

Test’n Tune

04/30/2009

After back-to-back events plagued with mechanical problems, the team took the race car to Roseville Speedway Thursday afternoon to work everything out. The team had replaced the broken throttle cable system, which caused them so much trouble at the last event, with a new linkage throttle system. They knew that the time at the track was critical to fine tune things and they did not want to attempt this on race day. Shauna and her father worked efficiently and fine tuned things to make the throttle comfortable. They then spent the rest of the afternoon testing the handling of the car, which included things they haven’t tried before. By the end of the day they shaved a half second of their time and felt the afternoon was as successful as could be. They headed back to the shop to prepare the car for Saturday’s event at Stockton, CA.

Broken Throttle Cable Ruins Chances in Roseville

04/19/2009

The weather was a great day for racing and the grandstands were full. After the scheduled two practice sessions, Shauna felt pretty good about the handling of the racecar but wanted to continue to free the car up on corner entry. After a disappointing 10th place qualifying position, the team made a few slight changes and Shauna was able to win her qualifying heat race. They continued to make adjustments to the car anticipating the track to tighten up a little more. At the start of the main event Shauna settled in and started to get into her rhythm. After a few laps Shauna knew she had her hands full with the handling of the race car. At the end of the 50 lap event, Shauna found herself with a 9th place finish. She could not understand what had happened to the car as they were pretty good earlier in the night. After coming to a stop in her pit she noticed the motor was idling at 3000 rpm, which is over twice as high as it’s supposed to be. The team tried to pinpoint the problem in the pit area, but it wasn’t until they returned to their shop that they determined that the throttle cable had malfunctioned, which wouldn’t allow the throttle pedal to go back into an idling position. With the idle is as high as it was, it would not allow the car to settle down when entering the corner and makes it very challenging to turn. Bad news is that it was another event encountering mechanical problems; good news is that they were encouraged that they were able to determine the source of the problem. Next race May 2nd in Stockton Speedway located in Stockton, CA.

Heading Home!!!

04/13/2009

After experiencing a few first-race gremlins in Madera, Shauna and her team are excited to return back to her favorite track this Saturday, April 18. All American Raceway, located in Roseville, CA, is considered Shauna’s home track as she only lives about 10 miles from the speedway.

Shauna’s team will be heading to the track Friday afternoon to make a few laps to ensure the car is ready for Saturday’s event. The team is very confident and looking forward to a great race.
